Get It Scrapped | Product Play, product kit...

ahhh, good ole Inner Harbor, i LOVE that place. i wish we could spend a little more time there during our mini weekend summer vacations. but while we are there, we enjoy every minute of it and i can't wait until we visit again. until then, here is my last project for the Get It Scrapped for the Product Play class session... the assignment, creating a product kit.

i normally don't craft up products into a kit, unless i am putting together a mini album or packing up for a weekend scrapfest with friends. when putting this product kit together, i worried i was too much, but then again, it's nice to have more to choose from. and it worked for my layout!

of course, the kit is comprised of product i receive from the monthly Gossamer Blue kits, which are handpicked by an amazing and creative friend, Lori Gentile. one of the main things i love to use on my layouts are polariod frames, which were the main element on my page.

there are three different polariod frame designs i used and adorned them with b&w photos, 3x4 journaling cards, pattern paper and more... i love the look of photos or elements running off the page and for this particular page, i used them with a film strip in mind, creates a nice flow throughout.

thanks to Get It Scrapped having me, it was a load of fun creating these Product Play projects and chatting with a great group of creative women... xo!

Get It Scrapped | Product Play, trends...

Happy Monday!

i am mentally preparing myself to be accompanied by two additional kids today... last summer sleepover before school starts next week for the kids. they are both ecstatic to spend time with their best friends today and tomorrow... and the last night of staying up passed 10 pm.... they won't like when they have to start going to bed at 9 or 930... i will LOVE it. i can't seem to stay up past 10 pm.

ok, so today's project share is another layout i created for the Product Play session over at Get It Scrapped!

the assignment was to use new and trendy products on a page. here i used the classic shape of hearts throughout my design and mixed them with a few feather die-cut elements, gold tones, wood veneer frame and enamel dots... all trendy and some new products on one page.

the large heart is a die-cut i purchased through the Silhouette store and cut out with my Cameo. it's a strip of scalloped circles that you can layer together in no time. loved how easy and fast it was to piece together. the title, hand stitching and a bit of journaling wraps around the heart to create flow.

additional texture to the smaller heart, i used floss to hand stitch on the inside and embellished it with clusters of gold heart stickers and chipboard. dressed them up with a few glittered and solid colors of enamel dots.

one of my favorite photos of my dad and Corinne. it's the perfect stand alone photo of the two that needed to be scrapped... papa with his grand baby!

Get It Scrapped | Product Play, stash busting...

whoa, completely forgot all about my blog... i was busy getting stuff done while the kids were away for the week and after picking them up to bring them back home, i ended up feeling ill. so i laid low, relaxed a bit. after feeling better, the kids and i have been running errands and getting a few chores done around the house. still, no excuse to have neglect the ole blog; life does come first, right?!

anyway, here is another project i created for the Product Play session over at Get It Scrapped!
the assignment for this layout was all about stash busting... this assignment was a little challenging because i have made a point to downsize my studio over the past few years. i struggled a bit to find something that motivated me to create with.

Supply list: Mini Label Stickers by 7 Gypsies; Hello Sunshine Mae Pattern Paper by Lawn Fawn; Favorite Things In Bloom Pattern Paper by Heidi Swapp; White Cardstock by American Crafts; Lost & Found and Boy Crazy Enamel Dots by My Mind’s Eye; Vintage Chic Buzz Words by Heidi Swapp; Hello 2014 Miscellany Puffy Stickers by Evalicious; Let’s Go Tabs by Chic Tags; Hello Sunshine Chipboard Stickers by Pink Paislee; Boys Rule Resin Shapes by Crate Paper; 3x4 Journaling Cards by Traci Reed for Gossamer Blue; Border Punch by Fiskars; Font Bebas

i've been hoarding my these 7 Gypsies stickers for years! they come in handy for project life, cards and more. very simple and useful staple to have on hand.

used my Cameo to cut out the text to set the foundation of my page background, using all white cardstock, of course. affixed the mini label stickers to a strip of cardstock and tucked it behind one row of words to balance the overall design.

Gossamer Blue | paper beads necklace...

remember making paper beads? i used to love making them, way back in the day. this craft was completely inspired by my little girl... she made bigger ones and dusted them with glitter. she loves her bling! yesterday, my blog post for Gossamer Blue went live... a tutorial making paper beads.

Get It Scrapped | Product Play, true to style...

happy Monday!!!

i had the opportunity to participate in an online class session over at Get It Scrapped. the session is all about Product Play, giving the Get It Scrapped members inspiration and ideas for using new, trendy and older products while staying true to style. this was a really fun project to work on; it allowed me to use products i may not normally use and in different ways.

the first assignments was just that, create a layout using products while staying true to style. my true to style product for my Bon Appetite page is white cardstock! it has always been the main backdrop to most of my layouts. i love how it allows color to pop and lends a very clean and fresh appeal to any overall design. another true to style element is using the simple tone-on-tone technique; i do this in multiple ways. for this particular page, i used a series of clear white stickers from one package to set the tone for the rest of the design. i'm not a big fan of transparent alphabets, but i really like how it balances the subtle page design between the clear stickers and vellum elements.

Supplies used are from a variety of Gossamer Blue monthly kit club: | DIY Word Stickers by Simple Stories; DIY Clear Message Stickers by Simple Stories; Icicles Cool Sticker Charms by KI Memories; Enamel Dots by My Minds Eye; Soup Labels Sightseeing Stew by Jillibean Soup; Let’s Go Clear Alphabet Embellishments by Chic Tags; Let’s Go Tabs Embellishments by Chic Tags; Boy’s Rule Stars Vellum by Crate Paper; Font Calibri

the closeups gives you a better view of how the products look on the page. i really loved how the elements used are very subtle and feels somewhat calming, especially combined with the neutral tones from the images.

i'll share my other layouts created for this session in the coming days. as usual, thanks for stopping by :) xo... C!

Gossamer Blue | August kit, back to school...

happy Thursday...

the kids and i took some time off from our daily normal and hung out w/ my parents and enjoyed the OBX sunshine and waves. it was much needed, but i wish it could have lasted the entire week. i could use a few more days laying around on the beach right about now! last weekend was also tax free here in VA... loaded up on school supplies and clothes for the kids. they are happy for new outfits but not so happy school begins in less than a month. i don't blame them one bit. definitely will be making the most of their last few weeks of summertime fun!

alas, my layout i created for Gossamer Blue this month using the Life Pages themed kit, so so so good! i just loved the new school products and papers in the kit. i mixed it up using papers from both the Add-on kit#2 and main kit add-on. i loved the number border from the main kits digital files and a simple design along the bottom of the number border and cut out using my Cameo.

enjoy your day and happy creating, xoxo!

PageMaps | August, yummy delights...

hope you're having a lovely weekend soaking up the sunshine or spending time creating this weekend... August is here and that means it's time to share this months fabulous PageMaps sketch. up until now, i've yet to create a layout using a large pie chart... seems to be the trend, a cool trend at that i must say. now, it's time to check this off my scrappy bucket list of layout designs to create!

my page is all about food... just some of my favorite foods i've been indulging lately and share on instagram. and yes, i do eat pretty healthy 80% of the time. my body loves it and so do i. there is a lot going on w/ this layout, as i've added negative space using circle designs w/in the pie chart, hand-stitched for texture and added lots of depth with buttons and more circle elements.

some of the supplies i used for the page come from the past Gossamer Blue kits, i especially love the exclusive stamps, perfect for this layout...

thanks for stopping by, enjoy your Sunday... cheers!

Gossamer Blue | August main kit, abstract...

good morning and happy Saturday...

today's layout share is a little abstract but uses a great combination of goodness from Gossamer Blue's August main kit and digital files... the design of the "scratch off" digital cut design caught my attention. i had a million ideas rolling around in my head and love how this one turned out the way i imagined. i kept the page simple adding a few elements clustered about, to not lose focus on the photos. to add a little more depth to the photos, i layered the negative space of the "scratch off" cut design with the grey cardstock for my foundation. love how the photos peek through the design and balanced it all off with the bold background page and tone-on-tone "scratch off" pieces.

everything about this kit was a joy to work with and i hope you get your chance to play with it and enjoy using it as much as i did. have a lovely weekend...

xoxo :)
