So many young ones started school back in August and well, ours aren't due back until September 8th. I'll admit, I'm looking forward to the school year routine, but not the morning routine of getting ready for school. that is always challenging. Them being back in school will also mean a quiet house, more homework and after school activities. Soccer and swimming are back in full swing... I love watching them interact in sport activities and watching them grow in strength and endurance. It's so good for them. I will truly miss their presence at home during the day.
This months PageMaps sketch layout documents last years back to school memories. That year changed everything when little man entered into middle school and no more riding buses together with his sister. Totally changes the dynamics of our daily routine and life in general.
My interpretation of this months sketch was to use the circle template to set my background foundation. I love circles a lot and love the idea of using this grid for my pictures, title treatment and journaling area to anchor the background. Journaling is interactively tucked inside card and adorned with tags and puffy stickers for accents. The "camera" pattern paper was just perfect for the occasion to boot. I used blue, red and white enamel dots as accents around the images, to simplify the design.
Thanks so much for stopping by and happy scrapping... cheers :)
Good morning! This months PageMaps sketch is a favorite because it involved circles! YES! They are the perfect accent shape and adds a great flow of movement, too. At first I was going to do the opposite of the sketch design and create circle images for my background, but then I thought, wait, I have a lot of pretty embellishments by Pink Paislee, Heidi Swapp and Elle's Studio, to name a few.
I first punched out a variety of pattern papers to compliment the color palette in my photos and softened them up with vellum. Then embellishing each one with pieces that complimented the story/theme behind the photos and arranging them in a way that would grab attention. Used a dark blue archival pen to create the stitch accents around background and a few circles to balance out the dark blue photo mat that also holds my (oops, I messed up my writing) journaling and title treatment.
Be sure to check out the rest of the teams August projects. Thanks so much for stopping by... hope you enjoyed this months sketch layout. Have an awesome Sunday... until next time... xo!!!
HAPPY JULY 1ST!!!
Oh yes, the holiday weekend is fast approaching and I can't wait to relax and enjoy the holiday!
This months July sketch layout project for PageMaps is filled with a bit of randomness throughout, but I am digging the sketch design and use of patterns to create my page. My son can never take a photo without making weird and abstract expressions. It's an everyday occurrence. He's quite silly really. It's ok when I just need a quick photo of him, but not so much when we are trying to capture a family photo. But that is the beauty of imperfection, right?! Gotta love his sense of humor! My page is simple, but displays a variety of elements to bring it all together. I even used stamps to frame the photo area and break up the striped background from the images. Journaling is tucked in a pocket element. The white space in the photos leaves ample space for additional embellishing, drawing focus to the images. I used chipboard numbers with the colorful pattern to continue with the directional flow of my page. They don't really have anything to do with the story, but compliments the pages design. Love how it all turned out. This was one of those easy layouts that took me only 45 minutes to make. LOVE when that happens, which is why I love creating with sketches.
Thanks for stopping by this month. I hope you have a wonderful July 4th weekend... be sure to stop by PageMaps to see the rest of the July sketch layouts... xo!
This is where the magic happens... my workbench! It's not the traditional style jeweler's bench, but THIS workbench totally works for me. It's spacious with plenty of room to grow. A few weeks back I spent some time reorganizing my work area. It was time to remove all the clutter and improve my work flow. I even found a few treasures that went missing during the process of making cool jewelry. Soon, this work space (the two car garage!) will no longer be... my handy hubby is working on building me my own work shed or as I've heard it's called a "she shed". I've managed to score a few windows and an exterior door, thanks to Habitat for Humanity! Super excited for the process of building to begin. In the meantime, I'll continue to enjoy where I create now... my happy place!
Happy Monday! This month has been extremely busy around here with no time to create with pretty paper and embellishments. But I'm happy to share, once again, my layout, Father & Daughter Dance layout I created using Gossamer Blue's June kits. I mixed and matched products from both the main kit, add-ons and life pages kits. Too much goodness in each one that I loved using for my layout.
Thanks so much for stopping by during the inspirational blog hop. Have an AWESOME week!
